Face

"Face" Charcoal 18x24

Blocking in the Value Pattern

This too was to see/draw the WHOLE before the parts (details) and seeing/drawing as a series of relationships.

This particular drawing was fun for me because I absolutely hated doing anything in charcoal; however, I learned that the reasoning behind my hatred was that I simply didn't know how to use it and this exercise helped me.

Skull

"Skull" Charcoal 18x24

Measured Line

In this drawing we learned to see/draw the WHOLE before the parts (details) and seeing/drawing as a series of relationships. Also learning "flip to grid" avoidance or making the plane much larger than it is.

I personally learned that taking the time to measure out each line helped me make a more realistic sketch and definitely made me really understand why the lesson was so important.

Hands

"Hands" Graphite/Pencil 8B

Blind & Observed Continuos Line Contour

In this drawing we were taught to not give a form a name, rather to see it as lines. Also, to see your eye and pencil as one and to be able to follow without seeing the line. "Celebrate expressive distortion." Not to be worried about perfecting the drawing.
