All-Points Personal Transportation sketchs

So I started off with sketching out the name to try and get some ideas for a logo design. I also wrote down some words that a think this company stands for like sleek, fast, reliable, and quality. Just a few that came to mind. I took some different points of views on ideas. A few main things stuck. I really like the bold concept, especially for the ALL. I also tried to play with the 'A' as more of an arrow without taking it too close to the original design, since that feature is something I did like about it. Eventually I made this 'you are here' like arrow which a displayed quickly and had a hard time breaking away from it because I enjoyed it so much. However, I'm still trying to figure out what my plans are for "Personal Transportation" I feel as though I progressed much further than I expected to.

All-Points Personal Transportation

I'll start off with the quote I have found on there site and on an info card given to me by the company.

"Our mission is simple: to provide the highest level of personal service to all of our clients so that when they think ‘Transportation’ they think of All-Points first. Whether for business or pleasure, individuals or groups, you can rely on All-Points"

So, Why isn't the business card they handed out simple?

I choose the All-points CEO's card to redesign because I feel like it did not promote what the company stands for at all.

Logos

Here are a few Logos I found to be successful or more successful than the one I choose.

Newspaper Wins!

Okay. The top one is my original design with corrections to spelling made and variations of the font in the Symbols and letters at the bottom right. The second one is a new background a found online and I also faded out the letters to make it look older.

Movies That Used Franklin Gothic

So, for my show and tell I decided to put up two movies that used Franklin Gothic for the titles. I was originally going to put these in one of my posters but I changed my mind last minute. I figured this would be a good use for them instead.

Poster Designs

Okay, So in this project we had to design at least 3 different poster designs for our font. I have Franklin Gothic because it was chosen for me, however I have really grown to like the font.

Poster 1: This one is different than the others because I used information to get the image and background ideas. The building is the American Type Founders Building which is where Benton worked and not only created Franklin Gothic but most of his typefaces. The background is made up of his various types excluding Franklin Gothic which is at the top and much bigger for obvious reasons. I'm half and half on this poster. I like it and yet hate it at the same time. I think it could be improved a lot but I'm not quite sure how.

Poster 2: This one was definitely the most fun to work on. Because Franklin Gothic is a common used font for advertising and printed media I decided to make it look like a newspaper. The only difficultly I had was getting the picture to look like it was printed on the background paper. However, I love the detail like the date (which I made up besides the year) and the caption under the picture of Benton himself. All in all I think this one is successful and I look forward to getting some tips about it.

Poster 3: So...This was my attempt to use color in my poster. It didn't feel right the whole time. I mean, it started out alright but after I added in the symbols it started to get unorganized and messy. One thing I can say is that I like the letters sneaking out from the sides and corners. After spending a couple of hours on it this was what I ended up with. I don't care much for it at all.

Poster 4: Take my idea from the 3rd one and take away color and this is my fourth one. I really like this one. It started out inverted but the white space just looked unnatural so I made the back ground black and put white letters on top. I love the organization and the placement.

GT Mustang [Using The Pen Tool]

Okay, so task number 2 using the pen tool in Illustrator. First off, I'd like to warn anyone who may ever want to draw a vehicle...it's definitely NOT easy...at all.
However, I'm very pleased with my results.
I started with simple outlining. Only getting as little detail as I could without taking away from the car's own style. Meaning that if you can't tell that it's a Ford Mustang...we've got problems.
I'd have to say that coloring the darn thing was the most challenging part.
Shading and detailing it was difficult, I think because it's a muscle car and has a bunch of curves and sharp edges.
I wanted to give it a back ground but after 10 long hours I'm am satisfied with my floating car.

Ai Tiger

So, in this exercise we had to outline an animal using the pen tool in illustrator. I choose a tiger because it's my favorite animal. I really enjoyed doing this exercise, and I'm happy with how it turned out. Roar!
