Poster Designs

Okay, So in this project we had to design at least 3 different poster designs for our font. I have Franklin Gothic because it was chosen for me, however I have really grown to like the font.

Poster 1: This one is different than the others because I used information to get the image and background ideas. The building is the American Type Founders Building which is where Benton worked and not only created Franklin Gothic but most of his typefaces. The background is made up of his various types excluding Franklin Gothic which is at the top and much bigger for obvious reasons. I'm half and half on this poster. I like it and yet hate it at the same time. I think it could be improved a lot but I'm not quite sure how.

Poster 2: This one was definitely the most fun to work on. Because Franklin Gothic is a common used font for advertising and printed media I decided to make it look like a newspaper. The only difficultly I had was getting the picture to look like it was printed on the background paper. However, I love the detail like the date (which I made up besides the year) and the caption under the picture of Benton himself. All in all I think this one is successful and I look forward to getting some tips about it.

Poster 3: So...This was my attempt to use color in my poster. It didn't feel right the whole time. I mean, it started out alright but after I added in the symbols it started to get unorganized and messy. One thing I can say is that I like the letters sneaking out from the sides and corners. After spending a couple of hours on it this was what I ended up with. I don't care much for it at all.

Poster 4: Take my idea from the 3rd one and take away color and this is my fourth one. I really like this one. It started out inverted but the white space just looked unnatural so I made the back ground black and put white letters on top. I love the organization and the placement.
